Activity 7.1 — Binary Fission in Amoeba

NCERT Activity 7.1: Observe binary fission in Amoeba under a microscope. Watch how a single parent cell divides into two identical daughter cells.

How To Perform

1

Observe Parent Amoeba

View the parent Amoeba — its shape, nucleus, and pseudopodia.

2

Nuclear Division

Watch the nucleus elongate and divide into two (karyokinesis).

3

Cytoplasmic Division

See the cytoplasm pinch inward and split (cytokinesis).

4

Daughter Cells

Two identical daughter Amoebae are formed — the parent no longer exists.

⚠️ Safety Notes

  • Handle microscope slides carefully to avoid breakage.
  • Clean the microscope lens after use.
